It's been a couple of weeks and surely by now most of you have heard of the double murder of Pat and her son John Wilson in Sycamore, Illinois.

http://chicago.sunti...on-in-sycamore/

Pat was a member of my church, St. John's Lutheran Church of Sycamore and resided in a rural area nearby. The farmers in out region have had burglaries for years, just as you all have. But this is more brutal than anything we have ever experienced. To beat to death two elderly people for a car is way over the top. People are so nervous there is talk of what can we do? How can we ever protect ourselves anymore? People feel helpless.

I put this in the safety column to bring it to your attention.

Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.  Do what you have to do to protect you and yours.  Enough said.

Much crime around here from drug use and selling drugs.

Sad to say, but, that's what happens when certain laws prevent you from defending yourself against the THUGS of today that have no morals and no respect. Don't care about right and wrong.

In my neighborhood near every weekend you hear small arms fire some light pistol some heavy assault rifle shotgun single shot semi auto, some full auto. We don't seem to have much problems hear. I suppose the ammo bill gets a little high.   Don

With the arsenal out back and repeated expenditure of rounds, not problems around here!

Sorry to hear this & praying for their families.

Same here gun shots from folks target shooting or protecting their gardens. My wife & I both conceal carry but when I'm in the shop or walking I open carry. It seams like the places we're most comfortable sometimes is where we're more vulnerable.

Sycamore is immediately adjacent to DeKalb, a college town with large numbers of students and low income housing with connections to Chicago. The stolen car was finally found in Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, but no, no clues to the devil that I'm aware of. However, the police are keeping very hushed up. No leaks to the press.
