Welcome to GTT. You can do whatever you want. I would put the 16hp in it to make sure everything works right. Then I would use it for awhile. I've already done it where I fixed up a tractor and then found that I didn't like it(because I'm too big for it). Check out our Manuals Section for free downloads. Good Luck, Rick

The Yanmar will be more work.  Remember that the driveshaft attaches to the front of the engine and the PTO is on the rear of the engine.  You will also need to figure out the cooling system.  After looking at pics of the machine it looks like more work than me considering a 3 cylinder Yanmar Diesel swap in a John Deere 318.  After looking at the engine next to the tractor, I am going to go with a Vanguard or a Command for the repower.

If you are set on a diesel, I'd suggest a small 2 cylinder option.

On my swaps I have stuck with the Kohlers. My 916s both have CH20's in them. I reused the original flywheel mount from the single cyl kohler. I think the adapter you have might work if you have new holes drilled in the correct places.

If I had the chance to run a good solid Yanmar I would have gone tat route.

This is a conversion I did several years ago. You might want to take a look at it and see what is involved and then decide which way to go.
