A tornado hit the town of Joplin MO last night, only caught a snippet, but it sounded bad.

Thoughts and prayers to anyone near there or with relatives there.

Pretty bad, at least 89 killed. EF4/5, 1/2 to 3/4 mile wide. About the only thing left standing in the path is a hospital.

Saw it before I left to milk. VERY bad! The hospital's top 2 floors are gone. Cars crushed laying everywhere. Looks like a war zone. They need all the help they can get. Wish I could help them.

Joplin is an hour north of us. I've only seen pictures, but what a mess! My heart goes out to those folks!

My wife and I were visiting relatives in NE Oklahoma over the weekend. We had to delay our drive home until 11:30 last night to give those storms time to head east ahead of us. Quite a lightning show for all the 2.5 hour drive home. Finally made it to the house at 2am, all intact. Bentonville, AR was under at least 2 tornado warnings last night, but those storms went south and north of us. They don't call this "tornado alley" for nothing!!

Terrible news indeed! I apparently live under a rock as this is the first that I've heard of it. All the same, my heart and prayers go out to all affected!

Just seen the news broadcast of it now, and all I can say is not postable on this forum. It is so disturbing just seeing the destruction that I am just wow, how did anyone in their homes live... and it sounds like some didn't... My prayers are with them.

It's now been classified as an EF5 - currently 122 dead, about 1500 missing. See the link below for good aerial photos and a video.

I would not suggest using the word "good" with anything tragic, because I saw some pictures and they were astonishing.

Yes my heart goes out to all in Joplin, Mo. my brother in-law live very close and says the photos on the news do not come close to what it is truly like. They will need a lot of help rebuilding, we need to be thankful for what we have and give what we can.
My prayers are with all affected.

These were taken a full month after the storm. All were taken from the cab of the company Peterbilt. By then all streets were open. There weren't any places to park for a closer look. Not sure I could have handled that anyhow. I remember getting sick just driving through the devistation. Yeah, this is a little late, I just burned these to CD to preserve them and am going to delete from the computor so figured I'd put up a couple of pics.
