Long story but the quick version is:

mowed with the gravely, forgot to shut off fuel valve, overflowed into carb then into portside cylinder.

pulled heads. clean up cylinders(no abrasive).replaced gaskets. torque heads. change oil and filter charge battery. start engine. drive 15 feet forward in low /low. turn off key, engine shuts off immediately. wiill not restart. pull plugs. crank by hand with socket on fan bolt/nut. hard to turn. what have I done?

2 weeks ago this was a mowing machine now its dead in the shop. tried some Kroil in cylinders to act as lube. stiil no go. hope I haven't toasted the engine.

thought? suggestions?

on another note your 450 is running and mowing. i'm going to put the 30 inch brush hog on the front and cut down some hillside tall grass.

Glad it is working good for you. The other one sounds like it may take $ to fix it!

I tried last night using a breaker bar to turn the engine. can't spin it fast enough to reall get a comp reading. by hand both sides showed 15. but like I said it fired up and ran fine. going to pull the heads and try some stp lube in the cylinders and more hand cranking. no gas in the oil i'm going to swap out starters too, if I can figure out how to get the starter out. i'll be out of country for two weeks starting tomorrow.

I took this engine to the local vo-tech small engine class. We pulled off the flywheel and the sump. discovered main bearing is bad. needs a little more tear down and then off to parts supplier for bearings.
