So....12 hp, hydro........

I emailed the guy, is sending me some more pics, hasnt run in 4 years or so.......says it may smoke a bit (didnt want to hear that)....wants $100

Yeah, once I look close, I can make that out......Hey, these old eyes aint what they used to be.....neither are my other parts.

BTW....anyone know what they used for the hydro pump and rear axle on these?

Hydrostat system was built by Sunstrand. There are oodles of that particular hystat in use on many different manufacturers. The rear end was a modified version of the gear drives, the case was different but it had the same ring gear and axles.

The hydro cubs are pretty stout. That Cub 147 I had was awesome regarding the power the hydro had :D

i will also add that the 129 is a wide frame. wide frames included 109, 129, 149, and 169. the 169 is the most sought after with only 5,000 units produced. there is one down the street that i have had the opportunity to get it running and mow with it. nice powerful machine. the guy is selling it, too bad i already have 3 tractors. no room for anymore. the last narrow frame produced is the 147, which is modified narrow frame. i own one, awesome tractor but i dont like the electric lift

Where are you located? I would love to get a hold of a 169. I had a 147 and I regret selling it. I couldn't pass up the deal I got on it though and I will get another.
