I had this 1256 hydro come in today for a no start. I knew it was in my neighborhood, but never saw it before. He changed the solenoid and it still just clicked. He said he might sell it as he is getting into Wheelhorses. I have enough tractors here, so I don't need another. Figured I would post it with pics and get some imput as to value.

Other than the usual surface rust it look pretty decent,I see some added wheels on the deck, those were a nice tractor, nice to use being a hydro, looks like the tube frame covers are missing,be nice to know how the engine is and how the hydro works,I don't think a couple hundred is out of line (IMO)

Out East where your at hard to say as there is a lot more hanging around.  In the Midwest they don't show up all that often and asking prices are high.  I paid $400 for one with a sears powered tiller hanging on the back.  Drove it on my trailer.  Thought I got a decent buy for this area.

I think anything that won't start can only be worth 200 max and then condition can only bring that down. But as said if someone is willing to give you their first born for it that's that persons misfortune and your gain!

I would feel comfortable giving $300-$350 for it if it was a turn key runner and doesn't smoke or knock. If it smokes maybe around $150-$200 depends how bad it is.I won't touch a tractor with a knock unless it's Free or Dirt cheap.

Looks like it will clean up fairly easy.

It looks like a nice original tractor. If I were looking for one I'd gamble and pay $300, if I were not a gambler I'd pay less but that's just me. It may be worth more or less to someone else.

I am going to work on it today for him. We'll see what is wrong. Found a wiring schematic for it. I did find an ad on C/list for one in my town and I finally looked and it was for this tractor! He wants $500 or OBO on it. He has 3 decks, a plow blade and a sno caster. I guess that would raise then estimates of value, but not to $500?

Just as a starting point, I see blades go between $50-100,  snowcaster depending on condition and style (square or round) $75-150, decks $50-100 depending on condition. Someone will pay more if they want it bad enough I know I've done it...

My buddy who is an electrical wiz with cars, etc , came by tonight and we ohmed everything connected to the starting circuit. Then put power to it and we get power down to the starter/ generator and it is dead as a doornail! Time for a rebuild.

A lot of times, all you need to do is take the starter generator apart and clean the brushes and commutator and it will work.
