Picked this up today, it's an H16 that is in pretty good shape. Having an issue with the starter solenoid, had to jump start it straight to the starter but it runs strong and doesn't smoke. Will dig into it and get it fixed, have some yard projects waiting.

Came with a tiller and a homemade blade for the front. Will have to find a mower deck sometime.

Tag says it is a 1656-01,looks like it has been repainted at least once.

Welcome! Now watch out!! Several others will soon follow. Bolens don't like being alone! They like other Bolens to keep them company! :poke:

Paint the back wheels to match, throw on a set of decals and put it to work.  They don't care if the color isn't the right shade.  Nice looking seat with it too.  Good find and welcome.

Horray for another H16!

I have one myself and am nothing but pleased with it. The foot control seemed a little weird at first, but after getting accustomed to it I love it.

:welcome: to GTTalk glad to have you. Check for a broken wire or poor wire contacts that need to be cleaned.  Also make sure your grounded good. I just rebuilt my H16 & love it. You have the earlier version as I do with the Husky Dog in the grille. I also like the foot control a lot. Keep us posted.

Pulled the solenoid yesterday and tested it on the bench, confirmed dead. Picked up a new one today and all is good.

It is leaking some oil from the lift cylinder area, I'll have to dig into that. It looks like it must be full of ATF, the tank is about empty so I'll add some until I can fix the leak.

The PO smashed the air filter with the hood so I need to replace that and fab up a guard of some kind to prevent it from happening again.

Some linkage here and there seems loose, will get to that as I have time.

I took some pictures today, will post them tonight.

More pictures. Cat photobombed in one, he cannot help himself.

Wiring under the dash is pretty messy, will probably redo it this winter. I replaced the battery today, the one that was in there before didn't seem to be taking a charge and it was too big, found this at Napa, was expensive but whatever. I found a picture of what is supposed to protect the air filter with a bing search, hopefully I can find a replacement. Found the filter on amazon at least.

Last picture is the tag on the tiller. Disconnected that tonight and stuck it in the shed, I was not prepared for how heavy it is!

I'm thinking I need a sleeve hitch and a box grader, have my eye out for both. May be just the excuse to buy a better welder and fab up a hitch though. :)
