The 1220 my wife has adopted has the stock seat pan on it. The trouble is that she doesn't have a lot of flexibility and has trouble getting on and off the tractor. She needs to swing her leg over the seat, but even the seat back on the Bolens pan is too high.

What we need is a very low-profile seat that will fit. I thought about an old pan seat like the Ford 8N used to have, but all of those I've seen are made to be mounted on a post — the relatively flat fender of the 1220 doesn't seem like it would be compatible.

Doesn't necessarily need to be padded (though she'd like it more if it were.)

Suggestions?

The 600, 650, 750, & 800 models of Bolens tractors had a low-profile seat.  ....Some models came with a seat cushion, while early models had the cushion as an accessory.

These seats should mount on your 1220 with no issues, but there is no back support at all.

You can see pics of these seats in the 1963 & 1964 Bolens brochures in the Bolens manual forum.

Another possibility is a rectangular low-profile such as used on some riding mowers.  ....Early Snapper riders had these with a seat cushion.   ....These mounted with a single 1/2" carriage bolt.

NEW Tractors have step thru design to get on, no need to swing over or under or such to get on them. SO, New Tractor!  THEN, she can still have a higher back seat for the goodness of her spine, and probly alot springier to!

TSC is Tractor Supply Company, same as Farm & Home, Big Bear, Bomgars, etc.  Can she step up on the left foot rest, lean forward a little and step over the tunnel in front of the seat?  I do that on all my Bolens tractors.  Lot easier than trying to swing a leg over the seat.

Those Rubber and foam padded seats off of the cheap Murray tractors are very very durable and low profile.I love them. They don't rip like the vinyl covered seats.

Like this one.I have 1 of these stashed in the shed waiting for a tractor to put it on.

There is a bunch on Ebay for $15-$30 but shipping is another $25-$30

That's funny, because I have one I took off a Murray! Still too high, though.
