I picked up another tractor to add to my "collection" today. It is a Montgomery Ward Chor-Trac Model SIM-M-1. It has a 2-1/2 - 3hp Clinton Engine. It cam with the cultivator and sickle mower. It also is a two speed unit. I wonder what model year it is. Anyone have a guess?

Love it!

M-1's were made in 1951/1952

Its actually a 5 speed unit.  The large pulley on the tranny-end is reversible for more speeds and that's what the extra knob is for at the base of the handlebars.  Different speeds would make you need several different length belts if not for that adjustment.

The large pulley should have a spring-loaded quick disconnect to slide it off the shaft easily.  Sometimes the tire is set too close and it won't come off the shaft to be turned around.
