Ok amigos I'm looking at getting a nice b1 all painted and really a fine looking unit not trouble is no spark.so my question is would the Nova 2 fix that problem? Some people say it will others say it won't work on the b1 so I'm really at odds. Kid says he's tried new mag, new points and new condensor idk if it's true or not but I'm no magneto expert so that's why I ask

The Nova 2 replaces the points and condenser. If the problem is in either one, it will most likely cure it. If the problem is in the coil, it won't.

:ditto:

If he claims he replaced everything he must have it wired wrong or used the wrong parts

The original systems are readily available including coil points and condenser

Easiest way to find out if it will work is hold a Compass near the magnet.

The original points flywheel is N-S-N

The magnetron flywheel is S-N-S

Take a conventional compass and offer it to the center fin of the aluminum magnet carrier.
if north goes toward the magnet it is old points type and not suitable for magnetron or the Nova 2 module.
if south points to the magnet you should be magnetron ready and a Nova 2 module or Magnetron coil will work.

If your flywheel is Magnetron ready Instead of the Nova 2 module just get a Magnetron type coil. This coil will work if it is Magnetron ready and it's only $20 shipped.

Is could be the plunger I have heard off that at least one time.  simple enough to replace.  I would suggest to get the original system working it is a tried and true dependable system.

Here's the unit in question. He's only asking 450 I mean it's a sharp unit otherwise. Tires are brand new all its missing is the decals. Someone said the model 19 Briggs is notorious for magneto problems idk how true that is or not. Idk I'm on the fence about this one.

If it's too much trouble you can always swap in another 7.25hp briggs or the 8hp briggs. that way you don't have to cut anything

I used the Nova II on my Mtd 990 with a 16 hp Briggs with very good results. My problem was a very weak to no spark. I had a bent points push rod which actually damaged my cam lobe. Using the Nova II prevented having to replace the cam.
