Back in the fifties when I was born

The clothing was different that was worn

Things were much simpler and costumes designed

With items on hand using the imagination and mind

Plastic frames were the thing that made glasses stand out

It was the up and coming future product without a doubt

Perhaps a school play of a trip to the moon

That far away object that people would land on soon

A dream of the future soon to become real

Just a decade later it was a very big deal

Garden tractors were going from two wheels to four

To being able to ride and drive and do so much more

To talk to those people in the picture and see who they became

Might be someone who grew up to be a very big name

The past is history, gone and sometimes forgot

It's good to look back and have another lesson taught

What seemed so new and cutting edge technology

We take for granted as always something that was you see

So enjoy the things we have today as they once were not so

As we continue on our quest to know all and grow

Let's hope we keep trying but never quite succeed

For if there was nothing to learn life would be sad indeed
