Another tractor which is coming my way at some point soon

Local lad Harry needed a replacement 2CV air cooled flat twin engine for a project hes doing in the winter. Just so happens that he found an engine on ebay which had been grafted into an H16 :D OMG

We have seen some lash ups with replacement bolens tractor engines in the UK. This is one of them!

The engine will come out & the tractor will find a new home with my fleet. Its in good order for age apart from the hoods been chopped about

Its got its serial number which is good. May look into a modern 16hp briggs etc to fit in at some point. Far to good to break for spares!!

Heck everyone has a regular Bolens. If this thing runs and drives, would keep it that way and Be Different!  Chassis don't look all that clean to me to make regular again. Does that engine have standard throttle like car?  If so, would it go really fast??  I've never seen one of those engines, just the cars.  ON another note, the Wheelhorse in back of it looks like the better choice, not cobbled at all. And what is that Orange thing next to it?  Seems you need to make a diff choice at this sale, ha!

Its poss its got the wrong ID or decals on it??

Currenly it does not run & yes I did think that engine would be good in a LF. I do have a few spare flat twins out of LFs which would be a good doner for a custom trac :D

The WH is for sale & that orange pile of junk is a Westwood. They tend to fall apart & are made of cheese

The bolens is cheap so be good for a project for me & my son when hes older. Only 20 months atm!!

Looks to me like a 1556 with the wrong decals and some of it been repainted.

I think it ought to be kept as is Andrew, will compliment my Guzzi V twin project!!! The 2 CV engine lacked torque though but was ultra long lived.

Early 2CV's were only 9 horsepower - unless  it was a Safari model, and then it was 18 horsepower.

[for those not familiar with them the Safari had another engine in the back to power the rear wheels making the car 4 wheel drive.]

1556 was always white body , red rims , the H16 was Black and white.

The one you picked up has bits of each model

I dont think it has any H16 in it if you look were its black you can see the white and the rims have red on them.  Also the ID tag has black over spray on it.

That engine looks pretty good. It's all the oversized alternator, exhaust, etc. that makes it look crappy.

Love the air cleaner.

Good save, and hope you don't run into trouble bringing this one back around.
