Scam....If they want it they can bring cash when they pick it up. I had that happen when I listed the GE14. The Guy  wanted  to send me a check and then have someone pick it up for him. I have had them want to send extra in the check so that I can pay the person picking it up. I always list my stuff as cash only and only make exceptions when I know the person.

Yep, that is the normal "send extra money back" scam.

Those SOB's make it rough for the honest guys!

That's a scam for sure. They say there's one born every minute, but my minute was over 70 years ago. It just makes me shake my head, the stuff people try to pull. If they spent half as much time and energy doing honest work as they do trying to scam people they'd be rich already.

Next time get an address from around your area that is vacant or abandon. Provide that address to the scammer, Remember to keep him on a string as long as you can , as he will be waiting his time with you sending out phony checks , he wont be spending that time on scamming others. Just imagine if everyone did that instead of ignoring them , it might become such a hassle for them they won't know who to trust.....lol

Had that happen when I had some bailed hay in the field to pick up by the buyer.  Guy called and wanted it.  Never showed.  Tracked the phone number to a Motel room.  Guess they never heard of cell phones.

I hate craigslist I could go on and on about it.

There was an ad for a 1st gen ram W250 with a cummins in the town next to me.  I emailed the seller, hey I live about 5 minutes from you I'd like to come look at the truck.

I get an email back about some guy working over seas.  I can send him a money order to this address and his proxy would meet me to see the truck, ect ect.

I had my dual sport on craigs list.  I get emails from people wanting to send me pay pal money and such and such shipping company will pick the bike up and title.

I just delete them and go on.  Honestly, if you don't put an email on your ad and just a phone number you don't get any hassle.
