Thanks for the video. The glass needs to be thick to have a reliable flat reference. I like to use 3/16'' or 1/4'' at least. Other surfaces that work are cast iron machine tops like table saws and granite counter tops. I like to add a few drops of dish washing soap to keep the paper cutting and flush off the paper to remove the aluminum particles. This  process works well for carb flanges also. Not intended to be a thread hijack, just passing on a few tips that have worked for me.
