I recently bought a Sears LT8 maybe a 1978-80 ? maybe built by Roper for Sears has a 36" deck 3 forward and 1 reverse gears 8hp Tecumseh engineIMG_20160713_190042.jpg IMG_20160713_190116.jpg IMG_20160713_190130.jpg Shifter Plate.jpg IMG_20160713_190055.jpg the #'s on the mower are gone as far as model and serial # sticker or plate. I have searched high and low for any information or owners manual its like a LT 8 does not exist without the model and serial #'s I have found engine parts that's no problem I know l don't  have the only one cause l seen 1 photo of another one. what l need is someone that has a LT8 could possibly pass on some information l am enclosing some photos of my mower thanks for any help

As far as I know, that unit was made by someone other than Roper.
Pretty sure they were made by Murray.

Might try 917.25700?

Not exactly it, but it's getting close.

 Welcome to the forum!

I just found an LT8 manual, but it's for a Roper and does not look like this one. I'll snoop some more.

Engine should be model 413-286142 Tecumseh.

Tractor Model may be 502.xxxxx something

Look at the diagrams here and see if model 917.255120 looks close. http://www.searspart...47/1509200.html

Also Google Sears LT8 36, there are a couple you Tubes that may shed some light.

Sears 197255120

Tecumseh VM80 8hp 4 speed

http://www.searspart...47/1509200.html

I had a LT10/36 mower like that years ago.Never liked it.Really slow, didn't cut very well and mine had ISO mounted engine with rubber mounts. It always threw and chewed up belts under load till I replaced the rubber mounts with steel spacers.Your correct on the year it's between 78-80.

hehe that's it larrybl  was typing this out while looking for the correct manual. Not much info on them on the web.

They made a veridrive version with the same transaxle and same engine and a tecumseh powered 10/36 and a Briggs powered 11/36.
