I found this nice case 130.  It is very original and has a nice deck.  The serial number got my attention.  I have seen where Case serial info is a little sketchy on the early models.  Its number is 9600103.  If they began at 96xxxxx and the 130 was their first model in 1965, would this mean this is the 3rd or maybe 103rd one built.  Does anybody know if they started at 100 or at 0?

Very nice. I would say that it is the 103rd one made. Good Luck, Rick

I can tell you for certain they did not start at 9600100, and they most likely did not start at 9600000 either, the lowest one that I heard of was 9600048, a side from the (2) flat steering wheel earliest models.

What is a flat steering wheel model?  Also, any guess on how many 130's may have been made?  I just assumed they started at 96xxxxx from everything I read.

There were some Case 130 models made bearing a different serial# in the 8276500 range, I only have a record of (2), which had the flat white steering wheel, like the Colt garden tractors of that era, they were most likely made at first to show at the Case dealer sales product meetings.

It is hard to say, but I  would estimate production of the Case 130 to be over 3600 units.

I have not tried to fire it up yet.  The previous owner was the son of the guy who bought it new.  He said it has not run in 6 or so years but it should be fine.  I like to pull the head and clean carbon and the such before I try to start one.  I am sure the carb needs some cleaning and disassembly.  Visually, I cant find anything odd or concerning and it always lived inside.
