The Onan engine in the QT16 I got was shot.  Water got inside and sat there for a long while.  Started looking on CL for a replacement engine, Briggs or Onan.  Found a Suburban with an Onan BF-MS about 1 -1/2 hours from home.  Said it run.  Was asking $400.  Talked back and forth a bit, then he said I could have the whole thing for $200 and they would start it and run it before I paid for it.  Took off this morning about 7, drove in a downpour for about 45 min.  It was just sprinkling when I got to his location.  The boy came to the door with the booster pack in hand.  Hooked it up, hit the key and it fired right up.  Ran good idle and fast.  I tilted my trailer and he drove it on, flat rear tire and all.  I handed him 2 bills , strapped it down, covered the air intake and home ward bound.

The motor is ready to come out, attach the motor mounts and set it in the QT.  Drive shaft is in the welding shop for new U-joints.  With some more good luck the QT 16 will be back running again.

Something has to die for something to live ...its just the way it goes I love the sears to but he needs to get his bolens fixed ...if the tables were turned I would be doing the same thing to a bolens.

Yes it is.  BF-MS.  Just a different color - for now.  That icky (Can't print what I really think) yellow might clash with the white and black of the QT.

Sorry to see the Sears get parted out!

Was never a fan of Sears.  Everything they had made had to have sears part numbers  so people had to go to them to get parts.  That really turned me off.

Isn't that the ugliest yellow you ever laid eyes on?  Reminds me of baby poop.

The task at hand now is to remove the double belt pulley that hasn't been off since it was built + it's been sitting outside.  Soaking things now.

Looks like a parts machine to me.Busted dash,2 diferent tires on the rear, missing upper and lower grill, missing hood, missing air filter and top and seat is shot.

You could get a few bucks out of that muffler so try not to cut it up.And the rear end in those are the best that sears made.Pullers would snatch that up pretty quick.

The left tire is shot, PO said a tree fell on the hood and crushed it.  Overall the tractor is in rough condition.  Going to pull the electrical that goes with the Onan as spare parts.  The rim with the flat is heavly rusted also. Other back rim and tire are just OK.  The muffler stays with the engine.  Engine rotates 90° and ready to go in the Bolens.  Definitely a parts tractor.  Transmission and read end will be put inside.  Rest will hit the scrap pile.

If those footboards are in good shape, ebay them. I've seen a lot of guys in the past looking for good ones.

Wished I was closer, I would give you scrap price for the rest of it.
