My 1962 ride-a-matic is missing the hitch. It looks like some of the parts can be made but the cast part would be a big challenge.

I noticed this on the US auction site http://www.ebay.co.u...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT and contacted the seller for a shipping quote to the UK. Unfortunately many people are nervous about shipping to the UK and unwilling to use the global shipping programme. In this case the seller has quoted me a very high shipping cost presumably to cover his perceived risks.

In the past I have had parts shipped to a Bolens buddy in VW and he has shipped them overseas to me, but that is not an option at the moment.

My question is, how rare are these parts and should I just swallow the high cost or keep looking?

Thanks

Iain

. The hitch was an option in 1962 so if yours is missing probably how the tractor was sold at the dealer like that

A while back I kicked off this thread when I was looking for a hitch for my '62 RAM and noticed one on the US auction site.

To my surprise and joy I got a message from a member on here offering to bid on the hitch on my behalf and post it to me in the UK. I will not say who it is as they may wish to remain anoymous.

The auction was won and the hitch posted to my generous supporter in the US. The packaging was not great so they kindly repackaged it to enable it to survive the trans-Atlantic journey. It always takes much longer than advertised for a package to arrive in the UK so I sat back and patiently waited.

The package arrived earlier today and it was clear that it had been thrown about a bit during the journey, but the excellent re-packaging saved the day and the hitch is in great condition

I am very grateful for the help and support I recieved getting the hitch to the UK and the overall support provided by members of this forum

Thanks

Iain

Over the weekend I dropped the old homemade hitch off the tractor and fitted the newly shipped one. When I removed the old hitch I noticed that the chassis closing plate was missing.

I could make one but to save time, does anyone have one they would be willing to sell?

Any chance you have the missing chassis plate and willing to sell?

Thanks

Is this the plate that covers up the 4 bolts I can see in the pic? If so, I have one on there, but it has been altered. I will take a pic and post.

Iain, here are several photos of the rear hitch cover on my RAM if it's any help?

Hopefully someone on here might have one spare going?

Do you still need the rear plate? If so, I will sell it.  Shipping might be a killer. Take a look at the pics.
