Oh my, you did a great job!!

Would the green on the tractor and the yellow on the rims be close to what I need for my Huski?

Thanks,

Greg

should be the right colors. There are paint codes for the green and yellow pinned to the bolens forum. I didn't use those however. I had one part with a good sample of the green that I left to clean up until the very end. I mixed the green up to match myself. I started with Oliver green as the base and added white and a little blue to it until I got the color I wanted. I found that the new cub cadet yellow is very close match to the yellow if you want an off the shelf paint.

I am a Power Technology Teacher in a suburban high school looking to possibly rebuild/restore a Bolens Power Ho with my class... The unit has been outside most of its life with plenty of rust to prove it...

But in the interest in trying to instill an interest and understanding in our next generation (of townhouse living, everybody has a lawn service and a tool box the size of a credit card) I hope to roll out the activity this fall... looking for paint codes, decals, rims (current ones rusted badly) and any service manual information I can source easily...Thanks for any assistance and guidance

Welcome to GTT !

Bolens never produced service manuals for their older equipment.  ...However, there is a lot of info about the Power-Ho's and their attachments here: http://gardentractor...olens-power-ho/

As a new member, you can not download a lot of manuals until you've logged some posts.  ...You are limited to only 1 or 2 (?) downloads each visit.

All manuals are FREE for downloading.

I can't help with any parts, but maybe others can offer sources.

Paint code info may possibly be found here:  http://gardentractor...ns-paint-codes/

Lots of Bolens questions asked and answered here:  http://gardentractor...-tractor-forum/

There are lots of Power-Ho owners participating at this forum, so any specific questions you have are usually answered quickly.

Power-Ho's were made many years, so once you know the model of the 'Ho you have, there is production info here: http://gardentractor...ions-1920-1977/

and here: http://gardentractor...cing-1947-1963/

Where are you teaching?

Thank you for the prompt feedback...

On the very rough Bolens manufacture plate I am able to read the following stamped numbers:

12BB01 - according to the documents previously attached I am decoding this as the Model Number 12BB manufactured from 1950 - 1953... Does the "01" signify the 1951 production year? or am I reading too much into this?

A30878 - is the other stamped number I am assuming a serial number

The downloaded documents suggest the unit was powered by a 2.5 HP B&S motor... what are parts like for this? The flywheel shroud is rotted out along the lower edge may need serious fixing or replacement...

I also have the front sickle attachment, a single bottom plow and cultivator which appear to be rear mounted attachments.

Hope to photo document this then begin disassembly...

STOCK TIP: invest in Liquid Wrench and penetrating oils stocks before I hit the stores!

I am an Engineering and Technology Education Teacher at North Penn High School in Lansdale, PA (Suburban Philadelphia)

Again, thanks for the assistance and encouragement!

waddinws--good luck with your project. Hope it opens a few student eyes and sparks some latent curiosity.

All of the 12BB's I've ever seen or heard of were 12BB-01, so I don't believe it correlates to year of production.  .....The serial number may give a clue to year of production, but Bolens never released that info to dealers.

Do you have the Model, Type, and Serial numbers from the engine?  ....If you do, the engine can be dated, so if it is the original engine, an approximate build year for the tractor can be estimated.

Can you post a pic of the flywheel shroud?  ....This part may vary with the engine used.
