I don't play it but I agree with some of the sentiments being expressed in this thread.

If people are getting out and making contact, walking, and generally making merry where's the harm?

I don't like how everyone is in their smart phones but this appears to be an ap that brings people together so I see it as a good thing.

Although technology has helped alot , it just seems like there's too much now in my opinion anyway. Kind of gets to a point when you say when do you draw the line and do you really need all those apps , programs ect. Are we going to get to a point where we no longer think for ourselves and let the robots run our lives??  I dont know  only time will tell.

Ever see the movie Wally ? Seems to me we are nearly there now...

I agree.

I use my smart phone for everything. Work, fun, phone calls, text and to access the internet.

I love having my phone in my pocket and being at a flea market ect and a quicj Google search gives me a nice bargaining start for an item or to sometimes figure out just what the heck and item is.

Haven't been in any gay bars to know what games they play, sounds like you may be familiar with it though. Sorry, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Lol

I have a job. Same one for the last 14 years(same one since I graduated high school). Work 60+ hours a week.

I understand this wasn't directed at me. But you can't lump everyone together.

I was just making fun of the game its amazing what it does to people. Thought it was a neat idea to make it productive. Was not aimed at anyone but the game.

Nah, just a little southern humor dribbled with a little common sense, seemed so obvious...

I, myself play it. As does my girlfriend. We play it together as well as with my 7yr old daughter and 3yr old son. Kids these days are glued to the couch, this game is something that entices not only the kids, but also the adults to get out of the house and walk around. Do I like Pokemon in general? Nope, never have never will. But the game as a stand alone entity is great. Look up the game Ingress. It is the exact same game, made by the exact some company. That game failed. They pitched it to Nintendo and developed a "gimick" to revitalize their company, and at the same time awaken the zombie couch sitters that are the youth of not only a single city, state or country. It has given the needed motivation to the masses to move and exercise.

Do some of the people playing need to focus on more productive things? Yes, but that is true for all hobbies. The way a lot of baby boomers see the world is, "If it is'nt making you or your family money it is a waste of time and energy."

Just my personal thoughts.

Hmm... and I wonder why the world is in the shape it's in now...

Because us youngin's have had such an impact on the economy and politics of this country thus far...

I vote +1 for letting people enjoy things.  I don't complain about the local race track being right in the heart of town with the light pollution and ridiculous amount of noise it creates each Friday night --as well as all the drunk drivers swarming to the local bars afterwards.  Let us play our game.   :poke:
