An optimistic gardener with a green thumb

Has decided to try and make beer from the ground come

He has taken the first few steps as you can see

He has worked the ground up and laid the caps in a "V"

Groove dug in the soil made straight in the ground

And marked the row with two stakes - an idea quite sound

I am sure the next step will be to cover them up

And shower them with water perhaps from a cup

And then sit back and watch the results of his labour

I imagine experts will shake their heads at this behaviour

But I am afraid that this work will all be in vain

For even with a perfect mixture of sunlight and rain

Removing the weeds and keeping beer bugs at bay

Will only result in a very sad look of dismay

When a few months later he tries to harvest his crop

He will discover the whole project was a large flop

For everyone knows that the cap is the lid that holds in the brew

And does not have the genes to make the whole process renew

He should have planted barley to start the new growth

And provided it with lots of sun and moisture both

But alas he will consult with experts at universities who will toil

To find out why his crop failed and did not rise from the soil

And with two conclusions they will probably respond with a leap

The caps were planted too close together or planted too deep

As said one is beer and then you have the other bud that you smoke

to much of one can make you do stupid things ---and the other makes you lazy and crave cookies----or so I have been told

It's actually a play on words...

"Bud" is short for Budweiser, a popular American Beer.  A "bud" is the part of the plant that holds the flower before it emerges... He planted some "Buds", hoping to see them grow and sprout "buds"....
