Well, I got the thing going but found a problem.

When I move the outside lever that lifts the deck it squirts hydro fluid from somewhere under it. I also took it for a short spin around the yard and the front mule drive fell off.  How are the mule drives held into place on these??

I also found that the right side hydro lever is stuck and won't move. I am sure I will have to get that thing freed up by soaking and tapping it with something.

Well, I tried to free up the handle closest to the hood on the spool, Didn't work out so well for me.  The piviot point where the spool linkage attaches to the arm broke at the point where the attachment pin goes thru :wallbanging:

Now sure how to fix that. :(

I will have to see if the wife and get a picture of it.  Not going to be easy to take a pic unless I take the side cover off the tractor to expose the spool valve.

I think I have big troubles with my spool valve.  Took it out yesterday and the rod connected to the outer lever comes all the way out of the spool valve body.

I took the valve off and have it in the shop. I also posted in the hydro section for help.

Anyone worked on one of these??

Man, this thing is REALLY kicking my butt!!!!!!!

I took the valve to the hydraulic shop and we put new O-rings in and found a clip to retain the stem and spring.

Got it all put back together and first pull of the lever the retaining clip popped off again :wallbanging:  :mad2:

This thing is a massive pain in the butt to take off and get back on now I have to do this all over again. :(

Something isn't right.

I looked at the linkage on my others to see if something is in a bind, and so far I can see anything different.

It will take me a few days to get the other spare one off the parts tractor and I will probably have to free that one up as well, but if I can get it to free up I am hoping that I can just swap them.  After that I will pull this one back apart and see what is going on.

This is SO frustrating to do when it is so freaking hot and I have it sitting in the driveway in front of my shop.

Good news.
I took the spool valve off the 316 parts tractor, cleaned it all up, made sure all the ports were pointed in the correct direction exactly like the one on the 317 and got it mounted up.

AND IT WORKS!!!!

Now, figure out how to adjust the creep out of the hydrostat and replace the little cylinder that hooks to the shifter.
