You guys have been very helpful to me on my restoration journey, but i have decided i need to start my own thread for this one. So i bought a bolens 1000 tractor and it came with a tiller. I also bought a 42" mower deck for it. The thing runs great engine wise, but i have noticed a few problems. In low 1st gear it runs smooth. But once i go into 2nd or 3rd in low or high. It make a loud rattling noise and i dont think that can be good. It can also be somewhat difficult to shift onto gear at times. Any ideas? Greatly appreciated.

Welcome

If it makes a wining noise its normal, you should do your axle endplay adjustment as well which may help quiet it down some.

If you cant get into gear just release your foot off the clutch, then press  down  and try again, these gears are straight cut and are alot like the older farm tractors where you had to give it a couple try's before you got it into gear

Welcome to GTT. Download the manuals from our Manuals Section. Do all of the routine maintenance including oil changes. Post pics. Good Luck, Rick
