The family reading room is put to the test

By family members who are doing their best

To inhale the news the morning paper imparts

Without the odour that this task usually starts

Dad looks concerned at the news of the day

Perhaps his favorite team lost in a sad way

The little girl appears to be deep in thought

Scanning what's new in the funnies lot

A cup of coffee perched where it could be bumped

And fall into the sink or be otherwise dumped

A burn to the skin could result from this act

"Worlds Best Father" might be a disputable fact

Let's hope this scene is staged as a joke

To make us ponder and a little fun poke

Maybe politically correct has gotten way out of hand

And that perhaps it is time to take a stand

What looks so wrong and way over the lines

Is simply a comment of what goes on in our minds

Perhaps they are just sharing some quality time

In the only reading room in the house they could find
