i usually put a small dab of anti seize on the head bolts before i install them, i don't use oil because i'm afraid the oil will get on the head gasket and ruin the seal.

Kohler K301 12 Hp - keeps blowing head gasket - suggestions?

I'd second the anti-sieze method. Like oil, it makes the threads more slippery, so you will need to increase the tightening torque to get the same amount of bolt stretch (gasket compression) that you would with dry threads. Main advantage of anti-sieze is that the graphite remains after the heat burns off the oil, and the bolts can be removed later.

Just signed up , you might look at the carb shaft ,if it is loose a lean condition can be hard on head gaskets
