well i picked up a ariens gt 18 w/mower deck from a scrap yard cheep the guy droping it off said the motor was blown, so i bought it i dont know alot about them so i would welcome some advice on where to start starter works but wont pull over i can turn over by hand/wsocket on front nut on clutch seems to turn hard ?? where do i go from here thanks
thre rest of it looks good hrs on metter is 900 :anyone:

I don't know much about the Ariens, but if it were me, I'd probably pull the head and see what's going on inside the cylinder. I'd also pull the starter and see if it spins without a load on it. Maybe you could post some pics and some model / serial number info from the tractor and the engine. Give us a little to go on and we'll try and help as best we can.

If it turns over, it may be savable. I'd stop turning it tho until you get into it and see what's happening. What brand motor is it?

Good thing is you can get all the parts for thoseMagnum engines and that tractor is worth fixing

it's most likely a Kohler Engine. In the Manuals part there are some uploads of the manuals there. However if you need something else let me know. I might have it. Or you can go to Ariens Order Owners Manuals and put in your Model and Serial number. I have the GT 18 so my manuals are around the 931000 series.
