Hey All,

New to the forum. I have a 76 16HP Turf Trac garden tractor that works great. Model 146-990-502. It has the snow blade, tiller, snowblower and 50" mower deck. I have only had the mower deck attached to it and it does a great job. (Or I should say did!)

I am in need of new deck spindles for this deck (I hit a rock and stripped the threads on 1 but want to replace all 3) and was wondering if there is maybe a new style that will work or do we need to get NOS or used. Also, would it be a problem for a machine shop to fabricate new ones or would that be really expensive? I was thinking of maybe having new ones made that used a keyed blade block instead of splines.

I will eventually get pictures up!

Welcome to the forum Shayne.

The 50" mower deck comes in two flavors, short spindle and shorter. Both manuals are listed.

The spindles are not available to buy any longer. (but the bearings are). They do pop up on Ebay occasionally but go quickly. Not sure about changing to a keyed shaft and blade adapter but a machine shop could make them but it would be costly. (unless you have friends in the trade).

Some owners are lucky and find another deck for parts. Looking forward to seeing pictures.

You can make your own spindle if you need too if you can't find one just need a pipe , round stock and a flat plate . And bearings. Those mtd parts are hard to find
