I have a JD GT235 . The hydro whines when under a load aand quit's pulling in reverse under heavy load or incline . Sometime's jerky at low pedal force going forward on incline. Any suggestions.

Doesn't cost much to change the tranny filter to see if it is the cause. Cut the old one apart to see how much metal is in it. That will tell you if the tranny has a very long future. Most filters work from the outside in but don't forget to look at the inside of the paper in case it's a reverse flow filter.

Can you drain and flush it without a major issue?
