Neighbor called this AM and said a guy he knew hand a 'old Simplicity' for sale if I was interested.I called the guy figured it'd be a riding mower.Turns out it was a 4040 so yea I might be interested and he said it has a loader on it.I'm real interested, guy only lives about 10 miles away I go over, he gives me a real reasonable price and also asks if I want the 'other' equipment with it.He then shows me the mower deck, front blade and the hard to find sickle mower in really good condition. The he mentions he had taken out the 16HP Onan engine and replaced it with a new 24HP industrial Onan about 300 hrs ago.Oh and it had a great set of chains and the original Simplciity wheel weights. So brought it all home.I would give ya'll the price but hate to see gown men cry(LOL)

I've been saying I have enough tractors, BUT if I ever happened to find a Powermax, 4040, AC 620 or 720....I'd snap it up! :laughingteeth:
Now how long are you going to keep us in suspense over the price?:mecry:

Well its not like he gave it to me or anything but I think $1000 for the whole works was pretty good (his asking price BTW)
as I sold one of those sickle mowers for $800 last year.Used it yesterday to move some mower decks around pretty smooth working outfit. That makes 2 of the 4040 models,2 of the 4041 models and a 9020 of that series I have now.You fellas might think I paid too much?

The sickle bar mowers are totally different from the little tractors and very few were sold apparently. There are some of the sickle mowers around for the smaller AC/Simplicitys but they bring pretty decent $$$ from $250-$350 most of the time

Yep, I'm crying, but because you got burned on the price. I feel soooo bad for you that I'll double your money and take that albatross off your back!:D
Heck the tractor alone with a blown motor is worth that & more!

Wow, a great buy!!! I have a 4040 with the ccka engine rebuilt with .020 oversize pistons and all new parts from a cckb engine. If you saw it, you would think that it is a cckb. Most powermax tractors are rare and sell for 2,500 to 3000 dollars. Also i installed duel hyd. and heavy dudy front spindles and wheels from a 9020.
