What do you all know about these 3 cylinder diesel engines?  I have been gifted one that was running when put in storage in the mid 90's but was replaced because it was overheated.  I am thinking about this little engine finding its way into the leftover 312 parts that have not sold.  Anyone got any manuals?Advice? Thoughts?

You are on to something there Travis.  Should work but may over power the preeless axle.  Called use your head.

Not worried about the axle as the same basic design was used in the 430 which used the same engine.  My bigger concern is steering since the frame space is limited and changes were made in the later open frame machines.

i am thinking the open side design of the 312 with the diesel showing would look pretty cool.

He even offered to help me get the machine going.  He's currently swapping a 14L turbo diesel Cummins into his road maintainer.  I think we have the tools and skills to make this happen.  :-D

22HP at 3,600 rpm. 20HP at 3250rpm, as in the 430. I've not been around a 312, so can't offer advice.

So my parter in crime concurs that a swap into a 318 (which was his original intent) would be a much better option.  I have a lead on one pretty close to home too.

:D
