I have set up IR cams, placed traps, baits...something is going through my cords etc. in the shop/barn area like it's a buffet salad bar and I do not have a clue what it is.

Will be spending the day covering all openings in lower wall areas and what I can in the openings at top of walls.

Anyone had success with galvanized hardware cloth (think that's what it's called)?

If it is an older building it might be easier to put your cords in a metal container to protect them.Sounds like you have a heavy rodent infestation.  Good luck.

Why I have yard cats..

Have a 20+ pound "yard cat", only hangs around on back porch/yard area...shares his food with possums but does take care of squirrels, etc. in HIS domain.

I pick up the Ferrell cats from the dump..we have a program here where you can get them fixed for $15 if you release them on your land..they keep the rats and snakes in check pretty good.

I am not a big cat person though I don't mind a few around for rodent control.  Mrs has about 15 and to me that is 10 to many.  I cannot stand the smell of cat poop any way shape or form.  These don't always bother to cover all the time.  To my advantage my big dog is real picky which cat he wants to be friends with.   Our one old female cats lay and sleeps right next to him.  Another one is his playmate.  He carries it around by its head and lays it down and the cat just wags its tail and bats at him a little. The rest he tries to catch between the gate or fence and the barn.  Most of the time they win the race.

I had some cords cut off in an old shed out back.  Didn't think much about it - figured it was a ground hog.  Then they shredded and removed a perfectly good seat on an ATV so I decided it was time to get serious.   When I got around to setting traps I caught badgers.  :shoot2:

Leave the cords plugged in. You might be shocked at what you find.  :smilewink:

And decrease the song bird population. Cats are jerks!

We have a cat that was laying in the yard one day and a couple of birds were dive-bombing her.  Once she studied their fly patterns for a while she repositioned herself to be on the ready and when a bird was in the right spot she jumped 2 feet straight up and grabbed the bird in flight.  Bird #1 didn't make it,  bird #2 vacated the area of his/her own free will.    It was quite a sight.
