Does this have a 12vt coil or is it magneto ignition?

Coil ignition requires a 12vt power source (battery) to make the spark

To test it out take a small lead to the coil and ground on the engine

Dont leave it on too long or your burn the points , also may want to connect the final lead with needle nose pliers to the coil as it will spark a little as your putting power directly to the coil
