I posted the other day about finding this.  After cleaning a bit and going over it, I am very surprised and pleased with its condition.  The red and white is pretty flashy.  It looks to me like it's serial number is about 141, if I am reading it right.

Looks to be in great shape. Very nice find. Yes the serial number is 141. Not 100% sure if they started at serial #101 on these like they did on the Bolens. If so, your would be #40 off the assembly line.

Wow I've never seen a red one before that is really cool. It looks to be in really nice shape too. I noticed that the s/n starts with 0100141 is that part of the s/n or is yours really #141?

0100141 is his complete serial #. The serial numbers break down as such:
The first two numbers 01 designate the production series, in this case would be the 1st production. 00141 is the serial number sequence. From about 1973 and on Bolens started their serial number at number 00101, such as 0100101. Or 0200101, 0300101 and so on. The first two numbers are most important when ordering parts. Anytime there was a production change, design change, or different parts used, a new series would begin and usually a new parts manual or service bulletin was published with the noted changes.
