Bearing went out on the fan on the 184 and I broke the cast piece that the fan bolts to trying to remove it(cant find another but I have a new bearing)anyway..I put an electric fan off a 2005 Dodge Durango with a Hemi on it and not only does it now stay cool..and sound cool..but the power increase is unreal without the engine having to drive that fan..this thing was pretty wimpy with the old fan on it..but this setup brought it to life..I am amazed..Most stuff I do is out of necessity and I know most of you guys try to keep them factory..but OMG what a difference.

I put an electric fan on a truck one time and did away with the mechanical fan. It made a difference. Revved quicker and seemed to have a little more punch

I bet on a smaller hp motor the difference would be even more noticeable

This thing has an 18hp 4cyl..I figure the fan was taking 3-4 hp from the difference I see in it now..its unreal.

I been thinking about doing that to my F-150.  Going down the hwy it sounds like its ready for takeoff.  With the C6 tranny it has no overdrive but it does have 2.73 gears in the pumpkin.  Might let the fool injected  300 six cylinder get more than 11 MPG too!  :wallbanging:

We always did it with our hot rods when I was young for that extra HP..even Electric water pumps..

Auto fan clutch with rad clearance is the cats meow!

See, back when they ran direct fans, they worked, and worked well, but Sombody figured it out in Engineering that those are power robbers.

Most, not all cars went to clutch fans because direct fans ate fuel...ok, we get that, but, cars/trucks had more power. RIGHT?

SHO nuff, problem is, most these engines were built on torque, so hp, or fuel wasnt an issue. Most street daily drivers rely on torque, not hp!! I cant dissagree with your hp gains going up, cause we all know they did, but your biggest gain is in fuel usage!!

Car, or tractor...the gain is there. Most anything made nowdays doesn't even have a belt driven fan!! Little food 4 thought.

Check it out! Cheers ;)

Every car or truck I own gets an electric fan and cold air intake, absolutely the best bang for your buck.

With this sluggish little engine on the 184(18hp best I can find)removing the fan made it a beast compared to what it was.
