Ya those original Patio Seats are pretty pricey even in rough condition.I was going to say it was a JD 120 or 140 but if I remember correctly they didn't make a H3 version of the 120.

Wonder what color the hood is under that nasty Green paint?I see lots of white on the body but nothing but green on the hood.

Exactly - 120 was only H-1 from the factory but there may be a 120 H-3 lurking somewhere in eastern Iowa  :smilewink:

Well, I got hold of the owner, and he's going to get me the info off the data plate, and also a picture of the back side of it... It'll be interesting to see just what it is.

After reading the background on the Patio tractors, and learning that many dealers painted them green to sell them, it makes me think that may be what happened with this machine.

So, did these actually come in 6 volt, or is someone just yanking my chain???

no 6 volt. the earliest ones, 1968 models came from the factory were 12 volts. My dad bought one brand new, serial number under 10,000. I have his and another 1968 140 too (both H-1). They had the 12 hp kohler K301 engine.

I'm wondering what kind of damage that 6 volt battery has done to the alternator and starter...volts are lower, but the amps are way higher.

Would it even turn over fast enough to start. Then the spark would be weak, would it even run. May have hurt the starter, if it was tryed a lot. Low voltage on any electric motor is not a good thing.

The good thing is that the electrical parts if damaged could be easily and reasonably sources.  That would not be a concern for me.

Cool!!!  Now I need to figure if I can squeeze it in to my already overcrowded yard, garage and 2 storage units!!!
