Im a proud new owner of a Bolens FS-942 mower it needs some tlc but i got her running an cut a lil bit yesterday but i need a wiring diagram for the key ignition and for the 11hp Briggs motor as i found 2 wires melted pretty badly today while inspecting it. The one pic shows my new machine the other the badly worn out key ignition i replaced but cant figure out which wire goes where on the new switch :/

Welcome aboard I'm sure someone will chime in with some info for you. The tractor appears to be in nice condition.

For whatever unknown reason, Bolens did not print the wiring diagram for these in the parts manuals. I don't recall if the diagram is in the owners manual. Unfortunately, I only have the parts manuals for these frame steers, no owners manuals.

Looks like the part number for the original ignition switch may be 1813185 if it is the same as this parts break down - http://members.tripo...parts/index.htm

There is a parts break down in the manuals section for a 940 that shows the same switch number 1813185

Found on the MTD site that 1813185 is replaced by this switch and shows some other Bolens part numbers it replaces

http://www.mtdparts....parts/925-0267b

One of the other numbers it shows as replacing is 1734196 which according to the excel sheet that LPBolens put together fits a G11 1155-01

Attached is a picture of the wiring diagram of the G11 1155 Bolens tractor

There are definitely some variables as to whether this is the same wiring as what your 942 uses and whether the switches are indeed the same but given the information I have posted it may be worth checking out - use at your own risk as the switches may be different and I would hate to lead you astray and see you have more melted wires.  This may help you if you cannot find any better information on the switch as it shows what terminals connect in the various positions.
