Working on buddies Simp 7016. Has start/gen. He said was hydro, they don't show that. Gears do if I go back some and many years list same belt #157524. Now that's fine for Simp dealer, does nothing to tell size or anything for me to check on buying at diff place. Don't get size from that number. It is a top mount, and I'm measuring about 38" with a rope. Seems big to me? 3/8" is width looks like. I have other low mounts, but that is much smaller belt. This is on a Briggs 16 single. Any experience in the long one for upper gen? Going long way to try to find, would like to be right size. Not going to buy several till I get right one and return others, too far away for that mess.

Ran your belt # thru the NAPA guide and it crossed to a NAPA 25-7390 belt. That is a 39-5/8 long and 13/32 wide belt.

OK, just got back from Big R farm store and got a 3L - 390 at 39" and is good to go. Other farm store TSC, did not go that long in 3L, but looked up the parts number in some book and said 39".  I was looking for a 38", glad to get the info on correct size. Put it on engine when got home and it cranks wildly now, Lots of spark, didn't hit on start fluid, so guess carb is coming off now to look into that. Carb is all clean and fella had apart, but didn't pull the main jet tube first, so who knows what I'm gonna find there now. Thanks for the info tho.

Just Google the Simplicity part number and usually the first result is a dimension.
