SOME GAVE ALL !

Rick, I don't mean to pick on your thread but I don't like the term " they gave their lives ". Most "lost their lives" they weren't trying to die. They were serving our country and and their lives were lost. I won't go into the fault of why so many lives were wasted on pointless excursions. There are some that "gave their lives" while trying to save buddies but that is not the majority.
Serving our country is honorable but often trajic. I served 29 years, damaged half a lung and the top of my stomach. I am also numb in many areas. I am luckier than most. My nightmares were few and long ago. Many that survived are doomed to nightmares for the rest of their lives. One WWI vet that I met at the VA, had 75 years of reliving, the trenches of France, most nights. He paid a hell of a price.
My point is trying to be: Veterans are victims.

Memorial Day is intended as a day of remembrance and honor to those who did not return. It never was intended as a forum for political hay. I say, "Well said", Rick.
