I found what I believe to be a massey ferguson 16.

Guy said it has a 16 hp kohler magnum, tractordata says the 16 has a kohler

It has a hydro transmission, another sign pointing towards a massey ferguson 16

It's pretty big looking...

I want to get it home and restore it, this paint job is making me crazy!!!image.jpg image.jpg

What should I look out for as problems?

Download the manual from our Manuals Section and look through it. The goofy paint job is a big red flag to me. The mower deck does not look like I'm used to. I would be very skeptical about the condition of any of the componets. Check Joe's to see what parts are available and how much they cost.  How much does he want for it? Good Luck, Rick

That's a MF12H.

With wrong engine.

Which looks like a Kohler Magnum.

Engine not orig, not a big deal, probly better than one orig in it if Tec in past.  I'm not understanding the "Lean" it has in picture? Wheels and tires all still on and up, but the whole front of tractor is leaning!  Am I missing something on that?  Frame broke or terrible bend? Pretty hard to bend one of these heavy frames. Didn't mention price, but will have to figure more then to fix things if not a runner.  Even runners dont go for much more than $300 to $500 in good shape, maybe a deck w/it, not much else.  Don't I see tiller and blower here?  Can't help with any of know problems, don't think much more than any other brand, same stuff to look for.

14 and 16 were shaft driven. 10 and 12 were belt. That's a 10 or 12.

Imo, that's too much for a 10/12 in that shape. I do see a set of wheel weights. But 500 for a far from original machine is too much.

The attachments ad to the value. Its not running well enough to command $5 bills but could be someone else eyeballing for a project. NOT ME!

I think it may have been unloaded at 60 MPH.

Unloaded! That was what I was thinking maybe happened and whole rig is now bent out of shape from that!  See if you can at least roll it off the trailer on level and get better look, and underneath too. $500 too much, maybe the $300 IF not twisted frame. These frames are like a 3" x 10" channel and pretty hard to straighten one of those out.
