Can anyone help me? I bought a MF8 with mower deck. It has a long spring hanging off the bottom of the implement drive pulley. I don't know if it attaches to the front or rear. Where does the other end attach to. thank you.

There are a couple of guys with 8s here, but I don't know if they have mowers or not. Hopefully one will chime in and answer your Question. There's one sitting up at Dads, but I won't be up there until the weekend, if you don't get an answer before then, bump this thread to remind me.

Thanks

I have an MF8 with a mower deck. I can't remember off the top of my head. It is buried in the garage but I will see if I can get a look at it and will let you know here in a few.

Looks like it goes rear ward from the implement drive to the frame.

I have an MF8, but I want to make sure I know what spring you're referring to. If it is number 13 in the diagram, let me know and I'll upload a picture of the attachment point tomorrow. If not download the MF8 Parts Manual and find a reference to the spring and I can get you a picture of that point. DOC112009maeii - 29.jpg

We have one of them. Has blower on it when we bought it. Did get a deck but have not looked at it yet.
Say tuned in case we put the deck on. I may find out where that dang spring goes.

I went out to take a picture and didn't realize I had the big lens on the camera and couldn't get it to focus. My MF8 is a hydro. I am guessing the spring you are referring to is the one for the tension on the jackshaft. If that is the case it goes towards the front and hooks on the underside of the frame above the front axle.

Welcome to the forum! I have the implement drive off of mine so I can't see where it mounts. As I recall that can be hard to reattach.

It it does pivot, there should be a spring that keeps the mower or snowblower belt tight. I think you can adjust it.
