I'm replacing the engine in one of my Bolens 1886's and the K482 I want to put in has a slight leak at the crankshaft seals. Does anyone know if I can replace the front and rear seals on this engine without taking the front & rear plates off?

Yes they can, seal puller works best getting old ones out, rear is very easy, front tougher, make sure you LUBE THEM UP GOOD before seating new ones, make sure you have the correct OD driver PVC works well, and do not set them to deep, you do not bottom them out.
