if you switch the wires around at the plug on pto of a power king will it affect the tractor at all?  the reason I'm asking is because I put the mower deck back on and the post on the back of the ignition switch is starting to get hot and melt.

Welcome to GTtalk. I would think that its corrosion on the connection on the switch or a bad ground.

Welcome to GTT. You can download the manual from our Manuals Section and check the wiring diagram. Good Luck, Rick

:welcometogttalk:

I have to agree with Auburn David. Get a good volt/ohm meter ad disconnect the wires to the electric clutch.

Test for continuity from each wire to ground. If you show continuity on a wire, that wire CAN NOT be attached to + Positive/Power.

Some PTO's have an internal diode that will present a dead short if hooked up backwards.
