Went to the shop tonight and the diesel fired right up....BUT there is a bit of a knock I don't like that sounds like coming from the lower end middle cylinder.  It is more prominent on deceleration. I think I need to pull the pan and check things out before I do catastrophic damage.  This project may be pushed back quite a while now.   :(

Hopefully, something simple. Got my fingers crossed, Daniel.

Sorry to hear this. Was hoping after your pump ordeal that things were going to go smoothly for you.

I'm not gonna let this bother me much, as it's not critical to life.  :smilewink:   Much more important things to be concerned about.  I'll pull the engine and yank off the oil pan once winter arrives in force and find out what's going on.  Worst case is I'll have to abandon this engine and replace with a Yanmar.  I know where I can get a 22hp Yanmar for $300.  I'm not sure what type of bell housing is on it, but some look exactly like the one on this engine.  I'm not going to change my frame no matter what, as it's strong as I built it and I can adapt any new engine to fit.  Hopefully though I'll be able to get this engine in good shape.

Hopefully, it won't come to that, but that's a fair deal on the Yanmar.

Fingers still crossed for you
