Well, I surpassed my goal. I planted right at 77 acres today. I milked 3hrs this morning, then 10hrs planting, not including my 1/2 hr lunch break. Put in more hours than yesterday, but not feeling as tired. I planted till 8pm when it started raining.....again! My plan for tomorrow looks like it'll get rained out. I could have easily finished corn planting if it hadn't rained. I'm good anyway, as what I'm planting now is for grain. I have more than enough planted for our corn silage, which is what we'll need first.

Today has been a long one. Just got in a few minutes ago from cutting alfalfa. Was just going to cut the first 3 rounds to test the discbine after the major CV joint repair. But I came to the house & the wife mentioned the herd vet check tomorrow. DANG, forgot about it! So back to the field & cut past dark, but headlight on cutting side was out, so finally couldn't see to cut. Then went to parlor to shut off the cooling sprinkler to the cows & found one of my milk cooling compressor fans was out. Milk is almost cooled down, so tonight will be fine with one cooler unit. I'll have to bring my large squirrel cage fan to blow on this unit so I can cool proper during morning milking. Then since I forgot, I have to get my computer work caught up to print out the vet check report, then by noon get back to the hay field. Gonna be a trying day tomorrow too. Soon as we can roll the alfalfa we have to IMMEDIATELY pump as much manure onto that ground. Our 18th wedding anniversary is this weekend & gotta try to get all this finished by Friday afternoon so I can manage a day off Saturday. Wish me luck!

Hey, that's no joke, that's the simple truth! Takes a special woman to put up with the hassles of farming. My cooling compressor has a bad controller, so gonna have to limp for a few days with just one. In this heat though, I'll have to rig a mister for the condensor that will come on with the fan. I have a dishwasher valve I can use, & tie it in to one leg of the fan power supply. That way I don't have to turn the water on & off manually. Vet on his way soon.

Oh, I didn't post all the problems I encountered before even getting started milking this morning. I am tired of hearing myself talk about problems. None are exaggerated though. My biggest problem is my son going through his divorce. His mind is not on farming, so I'm pulling a lot of the load he'd be carrying, plus more being Dad has had so many health issues & simply his age. Hoping things will get better as time passes.
