Thanks, will look into it KennyP. New question: k181 engine with knock coming from the flywheel side of things engine. New rings, piston and valve. Flywheel has some slop in it. Any takers on any other possible issues to look for while tearing down for the second time.

Ill need to view a manual to see where its located. Also read that incorrect point setting may contribute to the noise. I adj. The gap on new points from.020 to. 018. May be just imagining but seems to be less of a knock. Everything is stock in the engine other than piston, rings plug and valve.

This engine service manual should show the key. It's between the flywheel and crankshaft behind the nut that holds the flywheel on.
