If you look in the manuals section of the forum, you can find the manuals for your tractor, your deck and all of your other attachments. These will give you all the maintenance details you need. The tractor should be brought to a complete stop before shifting gears. There is an adjustment for the clutch (somewhat wordy to describe, but well illustrated in the manual) if depressing the pedal does not bring the driveshaft to a stop. I did have the needle bearing in the clutch on mine lock up once as well, which made the clutch lock on.
