It looks like a plain old MTD 990 to me.

It looks like a MTD 960 to me. That is a very good tractor. We have the manual in our Manuals Section. Good Luck, Rick

Did MTD stamp a model number any place on them. Or are there any ways to tell what model it is?

Its a 990,the 99x series were the only models that were hydro. the 760,860,and 960 were all gear drive. Those are great old tractors.

Sure, ask a hard question now. Those 15's are tough to find.

They're 4 bolt. There's a few models of wheel horse' that also used those same rims. Ags are even tougher to find. I got lucky on mine. I have an extra decent set of turfs that'll fit those.

Like Eric said Wheel Horse used those 4 lug 15's too on the GT14. American Farmer sells new 15 inch ags at a good price. I believe those same wheels were also used on some farm implements.
