I am working on the NH S14 that I got from Coinman,

I had it jacked up outside last nite degreasing all I could reach with spray degreaser, a brush and a garden hose.

As I was doing so I noticed that there is a cable that goes from the shifter assy that crosses under the rear end and hooks to the rear end on the opposite side.

It is busted where it hooks to the shifter. What does it do, how important is it and where can I find a replacement?

Sounds to me to be something for neutral safety....does it start in gear?

Its the park cable? Mine was broke because it was froze up inside the housing. tractor would roll down hills in park.
Took it off, lubed it, worked it back in forth, lube, work, ...... it would hardly move when I started. An hour later I had it freed up. Bent a new end. Re-installed, adjusted, now it doesn't roll in park :-)

Auto correct changes lube to live :-D

Is this something that I can still get somewhere? I am doubtful that I can get a new one. would probably have to be a used one, being the tractor is from 1972

gonna wait til I can see this machine run and move again under its own power, hopefully the park lock is in the "released" position and not the "lock" position...  Looking at the listing for Jack's it says that my GT19 is also listed in the "machines that this part number fits" part of the listing...... I havent even looked at that machine in a year or so, it's stored 30-ish miles away awaiting its turn for attention....

I believe there is a manual available for download in the Manuals section of the forum. I remember reading through it when I was considering buying an Ariens. I also remember that the tractor has a lot of unique features that make having the manual a good thing.

I have an old school paper one in a binder that came with my GT19, but it is MIA at the moment.
