I have a question for all Vickers guru's here, is there a pressure relief valve in a AC 314H transmission? My uncle got the bright idea to use his tractor to pull a log (18" dia by 16'-18' long pine log) and ended up getting the log stuck and the tractor isn't moving now. What kind of damage can I expect when I visit him this weekend and look at the tractor? I'm comfortable working on Sunstrands (JD 140, 316K and 420) but I have never messed with a Vickers setup.

I would check for a broken axle tube first. That is the common weak spot in Simplicity and Allis transaxles.

Very weak point on these machines

Even with a broken axle tube wouldn't the tractor still move under power? I'm not to familiar with this transmission/rear end setup.

No,the axle tube transmits the power to the wheels on these transaxle.

Well, it looks like my uncle did break the axle tube. So the next question is how hard is it to replace, are we talking a complete trans mission tear down, or can I slide a replacement in without doing a complete tear down?

I believe that you have to split the case. Go over to Simpletractors and post in talking tractors. Lots of Simplicity Gurus there.
