I bought a 1282 a few month back that turned out to be a basket case, the rebuilt engine is junk and most of the tractor is beat and rigged together. I was going to part it out then decided to do a custom build, I started to rebuild the engine but the block is junk then I remembered I had a Kohler command 20hp with less than 400hrs on it from a newer cub so I decided to drop it in. I used the engine plate out of an 1811 and was givin the measurements of where to drill the new mounting holes. I got the plate drilled last night and I guess I'm pretty good at measuring because the engine bolted right up, once the engine was in place I measured the driveshaft and shortened the original to fit. I need to do some more measuring to make spacers for under the engine so the driveshaft is as straight as I can get it, once that's done I just need to hook up some wiring and the throttle/choke cables and it will be ready for a test spin. I have the ported rearend out of an 1811 I plan to put in so I can have hydrualic lift and front ports, once I have it all built the way I want it I will tear it back apart for sandblasting and paint.

I'm excited to get it done but trying not to rush it so it turns out nice, I plan to get it together and mow with it for the rest of the summer to work out any bugs then pull it apart to paint it over winter.
